Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park in Coon Rapids MN
Coon Rapids MN boasts a wide array of outdoor activities and parks. We have the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park which is located on both sides of the Mississippi River in the heart of Coon Rapids MN. It is a 610-acre park where you can hike, bike, fish snowshoe, picnic, and more! They have concerts in the park and lessons to teach youth how to fish along with several other community-sponsored events that all can enjoy.
There is a walkway over the dam that connects to the North Hennepin Trail Corridor complete with tons of trails to walk, bike, or rollerblade. The Mississippi Regional Trail for hiking, biking, and longboarding continues to the south end of the park and weaves through the streets of Coon Rapids, Fridley, and Columbia Heights before connecting into the Minneapolis Parkway system. In addition, The Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park has a designated state trout lake stocked with brook and rainbow trout. It is a great way to get outside and enjoy the beauty of our area.
Bunker Hill Regional Park
Coon Rapids MN has created a total recreation environment with convenient local neighborhood access and it is called Bunker Hill Regional Park. A great place to relax on a walk or run through nature, or enjoy great picture taking for all the holidays. They have created a 21-hole (18 holes during the winter) disc golf course in partnership with the City of Coon Rapids. The course was built in partnership with volunteers to build a unique and challenging course designed for anyone to practice their game along with walking along some of Coon Rapids MN's finest trails. In addition, there are fully functioning campgrounds in the park. The campgrounds offer 72 secluded and shaded sites, ranging from rustic to modern with water and electrical hookups.
There is also a group site that can accommodate up to 30 people, using tents with water and electricity hookups. They have two camper cabins as well! Take a staycation right in your own town of Coon Rapids! While you are there you can also enjoy the bunker beach water park and float down the Lazy Loop, make a splash riding down one of the six waterslides at twisted towers and splash cove, and ride the waves in the wave pool at Minnesota's largest water park! They also have picnic areas, concessions, and more, perfect for a birthday party or family reunion in the sun. Another unique thing in Bunker Hills Park complex is a full-on horse stable. They feature trail rides, pony rides, hayrides/sleigh rides, lessons, day camps, and more.
Splash Pad
In the heart of Coon Rapids MN the city opened their first splash pad for the communities' residents to enjoy in the summer! The splash pad and park are located at 11000 Crooked Lake Blvd and provide water fun for everyone - free of charge - and playground equipment that is designed for children of all ages. The splash pad is open every day during the summer, from 10 am to 8 pm!

Coon Rapids Ice Center
Winter fun the year round is available in Coon Rapids MN in their Coon Rapids Ice Center. They provide ice opportunities for skating and hockey all year round. It features spectator seating for 775, plus meeting, party, and exercise rooms. A pro shop provides basic skating supplies and professional skate sharpening. Along with the year-round indoor ice, there is a refrigerated outdoor rink, one of only a few in the state! The Ice Center is available for private rentals, birthday parties, open skating, adult drop-in hockey, tournaments, and camps. A full Learn to Skate USA program is available, as well as off-ice conditioning classes and freestyle ice. The Ice Fantasy skating show, featuring local and celebrity ice skaters, is a community highlight each year as well.
Coon Rapids MN is the host of a great Snowflake Day and Family Fun Day each winter in the community. Snowflake Days is a winter tradition in our city that has been going on for over 50 years! Have an artist flair? Enter the design contest for the artwork on the yearly winter ornament. Love a mystery? Make sure you get the clues to find the lost Snowflake medallion within the city boundaries. Each winter the Snowflake Days committee puts together a variety of events, including a kid's carnival, activities at the Coon Rapids Ice Center, talent contests, medallion hunts, and more! Coon Rapids MN is the place to go golfing at the Bunker Hills premier golf destination nestled in the Bunker Hills Regional Park. Since its opening in 1968, Bunker Hills Golf has been recognized as one of the best golf courses in the region and has even been named one of the top 25 public courses in the country by Golf Digest. It has large greens, tree-lined fairways, and the unique challenge of 75 bunkers. The 27-hole course was originally designed and built as an 18-hole course but was expanded in 1989, and has played host to many state and regional tournaments. With the recent addition of a new practice area, featuring a driving range and putting green. This adds to the complete golfing experience.
